How to format a C2C / corp-to-corp resume for US IT submittals

C2C is an employment type, not a resume style. The hiring manager still wants title, dates, and a stack they can scan. The VMS still wants a Word file on the client master. What changes is what you disclose: who the employer is (their LLC or a vendor), W2 vs corp-to-corp, and whether this req even allows C2C.

If the JD says “no C2C,” stop formatting. Analyze the req first. A clean DOCX on a person the account will reject is wasted credits.

What to leave on the page — and what to put in the note

• Legal name in the header. The corp name belongs in employment or the rec note, not as a fake “current employer” if they are 1099 through their own LLC.
• Job dates as written. Overlapping C2C contracts are normal. Do not smash them into one role to look “cleaner.”

• Rate type in the note — C2C, W2, or “open to convert.” Not in a rewritten summary line.

Where C2C packets usually break

• Consulting-company letterhead on a person who is actually C2C through their own entity.
• “10+ years” in the summary when the dates are 7.4 because two contracts overlapped.
• Visa and work-authorization only in the resume, empty in the VMS fields.
• A recruiter summary that hides “C2C only” until the account manager asks.

• Confirm the req allows C2C. If not, pass.
• Match against this JD. Disclose the gap in one sentence.
• Format onto the client master — USA Default when they have not named one.
• Write the note: fit, C2C vs W2, corp name if required, notice, rate band.
• Fill VMS employment-type and vendor fields. The portal will not infer them from the DOCX.

You are not converting a contractor into a W2 employee on paper. You are putting their existing words on the template the client already trusts, and saying the employment type out loud. That is the whole job.
