Job description
How to analyze a job description like a recruiter

A 1,400-word JD from a VMS is not a search brief. Half of it is legal, benefits, and “nice to have cloud exposure.” If you source against the whole page, you will spend the afternoon on people the hiring manager will reject in ten seconds.
Split the page into gates and noise
- Gates — visa, location or hybrid days, clearance, years in a named stack, “hands-on in the last 2 years.”
- Must-haves — the three to five skills they will interview on.
- Nice-to-haves — tools they listed because the last person used them.
- Noise — EEO boilerplate, benefits, and “fast-paced environment.”
Write a one-line role read you can say on a call: “Dallas hybrid Java/Spring backend, 7+ years, no C2C, Kafka preferred.” If you cannot say it, you have not finished reading the JD.
Turn the JD into work, not a highlighter pass
JD Analyzer extracts role, must-haves, keywords, location, and a short recruiter summary from a pasted req. Use that output three ways: feed Boolean & X-Ray, score a packet with JD + Resume Match, and keep the one-liner in your recruiter summary.
If the account manager later says “they really want AWS,” update the must-haves. Do not keep sourcing last week’s version of the req.
