Boolean and LinkedIn X-Ray search for tech recruiters

LinkedIn Recruiter seats and InMail limits run out. Google X-Ray and a disciplined Boolean string still find people who never applied — if the string matches the JD instead of last week’s habit.

The three parts of a string that works

  • AND — skills the hiring manager will not drop (React AND Node.js).
  • OR — titles and synonyms they actually use (“Full Stack” OR Fullstack OR “Software Engineer”).
  • NOT — intern, junior, or contractor titles you will not submit.

Start from the JD, not from a saved string. “Senior Java” on one account means Spring Boot and Kafka. On another it means batch jobs and WebLogic. JD Analyzer is the right first pass: must-haves, keywords, and a short recruiter summary before you write operators.

X-Ray without burning your LinkedIn search

A typical Google X-Ray for public profiles looks like this: site:linkedin.com/in/ (“Java Developer” OR “Backend Engineer”) AND “Spring Boot” AND “Microservices” AND “Dallas, TX”. Add a current-company OR past-company clause when the account manager already named target accounts.

Boolean & X-Ray turns a pasted JD into Boolean strings plus LinkedIn and Google X-Ray variants, including alternate titles. Copy the string, run it, then tighten exclusions after the first page of noise — do not keep adding OR groups until the query is meaningless.
